<br />
Well we had a good week. It went by pretty quick
because of meetings and activities. We had leadership council last week
and President Smith spoke of 6 hours straight on goal setting and
living by our goals. It was a good council. I learned a lot. He has been
very successful professionally and owed it all to living by his goals.
We have another council tomorrow. Then a zone meeting on Wednesday.<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
On
Saturday there was a stake 'MTC' activity. the youth went all morning
and did everything we do. Each ward in the stake had to teach something
about mission work. It was a nice little activity. About 60 youth showed
up ranging from deacon to priest. In the afternoon, all the Elders in
the Stake took a group of boys out to visit. I had a group of 5 kids. 2
deacons, 1 teacher, 2 priests. They were good. We went and visited a
sick sister and shared a message with her. It was a cool experience for
all the kids and to make them really excited i invited them to an ice
cream. After the visit i asked them what they learned, what we could
have done better, and also what they are doing to prepare for the mission. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
On
Wednesday i woke up sick. I had a little fever and i felt a little
nausea. It turns out there is a little flu bug going around here. We
were 3 Elders in the zone that were sick the same day. And a ton of
members were sick also. We also had a sister in the zone get hit by a
car... She is fine. She only has a small neck brace right now. We had to
go last night to their house to give her a blessing because she
couldn't sleep because she has to sleep upright. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
On
Saturday we found 2 new families. They are really positive and really
cool families. the first family lives a little ways away. All the kids
go to a different church... but they all go to a church. We taught them
all the Restoration and didn't understand what a prophet was. So we
talked for probably 20 minutes about that. Using a ton of different
examples. A lot of people think that a prophet is just someone who
preaches. So they all say that we are prophets and their pastor is a
prophet... Some say that we no longer need a prophet... But we spoke in
depth about that and they understood that we still have need for a
prophet. I love the scripture Ephesions 4:11-14. It talks clearly that
we still need prophets and apostles to perfect us. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Im not sure what time i will be skyping this week. But i will let you know. I think it will be like 5pm my time.</div>
<div class="">

Love you guys!! Miss you!!</div>

<br />
On Sunday the bishop gave a talk and
spoke on families. He started off by asking if everyone in the room was
fulfilling with their duties and responsibilities in the family. If
everyone was investing in having better
family relationships. Something i liked was that he quoted the primary
song Families Can Be together forever. He said that the words are,
Families CAN be together forever. It doesn't say that Families are
together forever. In order to have an eternal family
we have to work for it. We have to be proactive in our decision making
so that our families qualify. </div>
<div>
<div class="ecxMsoNormal">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div class="ecxMsoNormal">
This week we were teaching a guy about
baptism and he didn't really understand that it was neccesary to get
baptized. So we did an activity. All of us went outside. Then i asked my
comp if he was baptized. He said
yes. So he went inside. I was baptized so i went inside the house too.
Then i asked the investigator if he was baptized... No. So i closed to
the door and left him outside hahaha. We waited a minute and then
continued the lesson. That without baptism we cannot
have eternal life. </div>
</div>
We had a busy week because it was The Week of the Family. It was a great
week. Although we didn't receive any references from the members all
the investigators that we already have went to the activities and had a
great time. On Monday night we had a family home evening with some
members and we had a few investigators there. Then on Wednesday night we
had the Open Door Event at the chapel. We set up a table with BOMs and
Pamphlets. That was fun. The best event was on Friday night for the
Talent Show. There were a lot of funny acts and everyone was having a
good time. One of our investigators particiapted in that. On Saturday
morning we went to the chapel and everyone played soccer. The chapel has
a nice outdoor court and it has a nice view. With the sun out and the
wind blowing it made me want to play lacrosse and i started to miss
playing a ton. Definitely gonna take my lacrosse stick to BYU.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
These
next few weeks we should have 4 or 5 baptisms. So that will be nice to
start baptizing again. What has been really hard is finding new
investigators. So that is what we have been focusing on because most of
our investigators are gonna get baptized soon and we don't have anyone
as of now to replace them. So that is always stressful. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today
we had our zone activity and went to a little pond... It was lame but
there was a mini boat so we floated around a bit on that. Changes are in
2 weeks so Zelaya is just in his last few weeks. We have our zone
conference tomorrow. We have been assigned like 80 minutes... So we
asked what we needed to teach and they told us that we are just gonna
have to make a plan with the zone.... haha they said not to worry... its
stuff we already know how to do. They told us just to show up to the
conference and then they will tell us what to do. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Not much of a letter this week. Not much to say. </div>

<br />
Well you aren't in luck today! It was a really low key
week. Not too much happened this week. Just now we got out of a meeting
with the Stake President. We were talking about his vision for the stake
and what we could do better as missionaries. We talked mostly about
encouraging the members to get to work. Tomorrow we have an emergency
leadership council. We don't know why we have it. But they asked us to
come prepared with a vision for the zone. So we thought it best to talk
with the stake president to have the same vision. So that was good.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yesterday
i gave a talk in church. I based it off of Elder Renlund's testimony in
the October Conference as well as the phrase by President Monson, "Ver a
los demás como lo que puedan llegar a ser". They supposedly only gave
me 5 minutes but i spoke for about 15 minutes. It was good. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The
rain has started. It has been raining every day here. It usually rains
in the afternoon. Right now it is raining. We have lightening and
thunder storms everyday. I love lightening and thunder so thats fine...
But i think i enjoyed it more when i was cuddled up in a blanket
watching tv with Chompers... It isn't so much fun when you have to walk
in it... Often times just like in Colo, I long for a nice hot tub to be
waiting for me at home... But we don't have one here.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This
Saturday whould be fun. The stake is going to have an MTC activity for
all the youth. There is gonna be a little conference fo them. Then they
are gonna go out with us to work on divisions. So we will be visiting a
lot of less actives and investigators this saturday with them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Pretty low key week. This week should be fun. Love you guys!! </div>

<br />
Well it was a pretty low key week. Nothing too exciting. On Wednesday
night we had the activity with all the men from Mazate. There is a photo
or two of the group. There were 10 guys who came. Last week when i went
to visit them with Elder McLain there were 15 men but this last week
only 10 came up. It was a fun activity. We started off with a quick tour
of the chapel. These men are construction workers and were really
impressed with the chapel and how beautiful it was. It was cool to
listen to their comments. For many of them you could tell that this was
the nicest building they had ever entered in their lives. So that was
way cool. We then went into the kitchen/relief society room to share a
little message. We originally had planned to show parts of Meet the
Mormons but that didn't work out because the dvd player doesn't work...
So we showed a few mormon messages. I was the head guy there and the
Bishop and I spoke. Afterwards we went and played soccer of the outside
court. All the men had a great time with that. One thing that was neat
is that there were like 5 brothers from the ward there too to play and
meet the other guys. I was making sure all the members were talking with
the nonmembers to encourage them and make them feel good about coming. I
feel like they had a great time. I just hope that they go to the church
where they live. They all said they live like 5 minutes away from the
church walking.... So we will see. Even if just one of the guys and his
familiy would go would be so cool.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This week the zone
had a good week. Although there weren't any baptisms everyone worked
hard and found a lot of new investigators and we all put as a zone 8 new
baptismal dates. So that was great. We hope to have a big month in May.
Tomorrow are changes. There are only 5 people in the zone with changes.
Elder Zelaya and I are staying here together. I am going to kill Elder
Zelaya and then somebody will come to kill me. So that will be cool. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Toto
is a realyl tough area. We are working crazy hard and doing everything
we can. We have a family that should get baptized in the next few weeks.
The husband is already a member and the wife isn't. She wants to get
baptized. The only thing that holds her back is that they need to get
married. The husband wants to make sure that she truly wants to get
baptized before they get married. He doesn't want to get married just
because she wants to get baptized but that it be because they truly want
to get married. But I feel that they are close in deciding to get
married. It has been a lot of fun to teach them. I was doing the math
yesterday and in these last 2 changes, Zelaya and I have put 29
baptismal dates with 29 different people... That is a ton. 29 dates...0
baptisms. We are keeping our heads up and working hard. Thats all we can
do!! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Miss you guys and love you!! </div>

Well I opened my email with a big
surprise... My 'Plan de Relevo' was in my inbox... So that is pretty
crazy that i already have that. Tomorrow i complete 21 months in the
mission... Time is flying by. Next week you guys should receive my
flight information. Please forward that to me as i am looking to do a
few things with that to make sure im sitting by my buddies. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Well
this week flew by. On Tuesday we had leadership council with President
smith and then Wednesday Zone meeting and divisions with the assistants.
Then twice this week we had to travel to Nauhala to do a baptismal
interview. It felt like we didn't have a full work day all week. But
that was fine. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
In
Council we talked mostly about The Week of the Family that is gonna take
place next month. I don't know if it happens in the states but it is a
big thing here. It starts off on Monday when every family should invite
someone else to their family home evening. Tuesday Mothers day.
Wednesday each building will offer a open house to come see the chapel
and learn about all the organizations and stuff like that. Friday there
will be a talent show. Saturday community service. And Third hour on
Sunday there will be an Area devotional. So it should be a ton of
success. Although last year i didn't really see any positive results
from it in my ward, i heard that in some areas there were like 300 non
members in the church. So that is why we are preparing so far in advance
so we can all get the most out of it. We are gonna train the members
how to invite all the friends and have a successful week as well. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Divisions
with Elder McLain were fun. Pretty low key. We did a lot of small
service things. We stopped probably 4 times to help people. One time we
carried like 8 10 yard rebar bars. I was positioned in the very front
and McLain in the middle... So you can imagine he had all the weight.
haha I was wondering the whole time why he was struggling so much... But
when we finished i realized that he had all the weight. I was thinking
in my head, "gosh, this is really light.... We probably could take
more." When i turned around looking at him he was soaking wet with sweat
haha way funny. But we found a positive family of 10 from that. They
had gone to church when they were kids. We will be going back tomorrow.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2v5ulboOW6-pl_DJ_hzUhj8eK5KrDqeKabCUO4DkjXFfIxW3mQizCsgwRJ8IGTkiyQ1A9VQaihQPeE7eGX-Ni0jcp1WuT909vgegsx5Q6jyPC0UEIYn7cC8XKjk0aJ_DVy4sQ4PSyi6Q/s1600/DSCN6514.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS2v5ulboOW6-pl_DJ_hzUhj8eK5KrDqeKabCUO4DkjXFfIxW3mQizCsgwRJ8IGTkiyQ1A9VQaihQPeE7eGX-Ni0jcp1WuT909vgegsx5Q6jyPC0UEIYn7cC8XKjk0aJ_DVy4sQ4PSyi6Q/s320/DSCN6514.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="">
</div>
<div class="">
We
also went back to the Storage room men from Mazate. We touched the door
and we shared another lesson. We proposed to have a big activity in the
church with them that would involve a tour of the church, a small
message, and then soccer and snack. They were way happy. So we will be
doing that on Wednesday. We invited a ton of men from the ward and the
youth to help us. It should be sick. </div>
<div class="">

Well the highlight of this week happened on Saturday... Lets just say i
am the new Justin Bieber here in Toto. I don't say this with a cocky
attitude nor in a prideful tone, but a rather humble tone... Many times
girls go crazy here when I walk by them. They all smiles and do these
googly eyes thing... Sometimes they take pictures. I kid you not, at
least a dozen times everyday i we walk by people and their whisper
amongst themselves, "Look at his eyes... they are so pretty." Sometimes
old women say it but normally high school age girls. Many times it
happens when they are with their Boyfriends and then he gives me a dirty
look and i just shrug back at him with a smile. This Saturday, all 4 of
us Elders were walking through Central Park and a group of 4 girls all
asked if they could take a picture of me... Of course as a person
pleaser, i couldn't deny them their request. So i allowed them to take
pictures with me. It was quite the experience haha. Just really funny.
But lately i have been trying out new hairstyles in the search for the
perfect one. I'm assuming the style i had on Saturday was quite
charming. I am interested in knowing what yall think my style should be.
I will be cutting my hair on Monday so i will need to know by next
pday.<br />
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well General Conference was sick. I
especially loved Priesthood session and the two sessions on Sunday. My
favorite talks just like mom, no joke, were President Nelson and Elder
Christofferson. It is easy to see that the Lord right now is not happy
with the men of the church and how they are treating their families.
This conference they didn't talk much about Temple attendence, tithing,
fast offerings, women and the priesthood, etc. But spoke strongly on the
families and the duties of men. I feel that I especially loved when
they spoke about priesthood authority and priesthood power. We may have
the authority... but do we have the power. At that moment i received an
impression that at some point in my life, my family would need my
priesthood power. And after having a sister missionary read my palm...
It seems like a big event is going to happen in my life around the time
when i get 40 years... So stay tuned on that... </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But
Conference was a lot of fun. We watched it with almost the whole zone.
The gringos are always off in a different room watching it in English.
There were 6 of us and it usually becomes a pretty casual environment...
cracking jokes, debating doctrine, sharing stories, sharing candy,
etc... </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This week is gonna be busy. Tomorrow we
have Leadership council, Wednesday Zone meeting with the assistants and
then afterwards we are gonna do divisions with them. I'm gonna be here
in our area with Elder McLain. So im pretty pumped. I did divisions with
him in Colo and we are good buddies so i am expecting a fun time... The
last time we did divisions i convinced him to apply to BYU... and he
did it. So let us see what i can pull off this time. </div>

<br />
Well we had a good week this week. It was Holy Week so all the Catholics
here went crazy. It is full of processions, Jewish runs, Roman
fights... the norm... well it was crazy. There was almost nobody in
their home and a ton of people out on the streets. I had a ton of photos
of it but a virus just downloaded on my memory... so there were all
just erased. It has basically been the carnival here. Which was fun to
have a ton of people in Central but tough for the work.<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
The
coolest experience of my mission happened this last Tuesday. We had
contacted a guy on Sunday night and put an appt with him for Tuesday
night. This guy is from the Coast and is just working here building
houses. He is here with like 20 other guys all from the same place. So
we called him Tuesday night and he came out to find us. Once together,
we started walking... after a few minutes I asked, "Where are we going?"
He replied that we were on our way to the church. And we then explained
we wanted to share a message with him in his house. He explained that
he lives in a storage unit with like 20 guys. We said that was fine and
that we would like to share the message with everyone. He went and asked
permission and the men all said yes. So we get in there and there are
20 adult men all huddled in a fairly large room. We talked with them for
a few minutes and then shared the video Hallelujuah. We then talked
about Christ's mission and his church. It was the sickest thing ever. I
felt like i had my own congregation and that we were up there preaching.
The men were way pumped and really enjoyed the message. We walked out
of there so pumped up. We have another appt tonight with them all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8-6hgelZBBgA0xZ9HQO0ixguL7X7K0oGJTiAfoaG4BUY-HCq_ty5vcZYiefyNYBbVO1z7SM00HX1V9r4bbxBaiSYZ7YnjvAT3gftQ0QOVMPehR-UCZB0SMCXINmJN53xoVOjegZ9bjPEB/s1600/DSCN6423.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8-6hgelZBBgA0xZ9HQO0ixguL7X7K0oGJTiAfoaG4BUY-HCq_ty5vcZYiefyNYBbVO1z7SM00HX1V9r4bbxBaiSYZ7YnjvAT3gftQ0QOVMPehR-UCZB0SMCXINmJN53xoVOjegZ9bjPEB/s640/DSCN6423.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
We
had another cool experience this last Tuesday. In the morning we went
to our district meeting. We were just listening and then it was time to
start doing role plays. The DL wanted to practice calling members to ask
them to go out with us and explain what they would teach and all that
jazz. So the DL was gonna show us an example. I told him instead of
doing a role play as an example, he should do it for real and call a
member. He accepted the challenge. So they decided to call this one
sister in our ward. He called her and she was crying. The phone was on
speaker phone so everyone in the room was in shock. Then the Elder went
on to ask what happened. She responded that she was having an asthma
attack and couldn't breath and had passed out a little before. She was
home alone and way scared. So he agreed to immediatly go and buy her
some medicine. Once he got to her house, she explained that the phone
call was an answer to her prayers. She had prayed literally 2 minutes
before we had called her that someone would call and help her. She
thought she was gonna die and the phone call was an answer to her
prayer. It was a neat experience to be involved in that and to listen to
the promptings of the spirit. </div>

This week we had interviews with President and Sister Smith. They were
great. I went in first with President. We spoke about the mission and
what i've learned thus far and what i can do to have more success. Then
we started talking about how other people who aren't members of the
church see us as missionaries and members of the church. He was saying
that we should develop quality relationships with the poeple all around.
We should say hi to everyone. But beyond that, we could stop into
stores and just talk to the people. Not even about the gospel
necesarily. Always call them by name and talk about their family and
about their life. People will start seeing us as friends. He said they
will start opening their doors for us. So that was cool. We've tried to
apply that and talk to people just as friends. He expressed his
gratitude for my comp and i and for everything that we have done in the
zone. He said that he is really impressed with all the interviews that
he had and that all the elders and sisters are way happy and working
hard.<br />
<div>
Afterwards i had the interview with Sister smith. Well it
wasn't much of an interview... We talked about two things... Souveneirs
and BYU... haha it was a lot of fun and way chill.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Before
i got here in Toto, Elder Zelaya and his comp were teaching the wife of
a less active gentlemen. She had gone to church like 5 times and was
gonna get baptized but just moved to Xela. But this last week, she and
her husband moved back. So we are happily teaching them again. We want
to reactivate the guy and baptize her. She has the desire to get
baptized. But he likes to sleep on Sunday mornings... a little lazy. But
we are working ahrd with them tonight.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I got
an email from Sandra in Minerva. Saying that Marvin (the guy we baptized
in Minerva) baptized his daughter last week. They are working hard and
hopfully will be able to go to the temple in July. I hope they can go
before i go home because i'll be able to enter with them. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Yesterday
a member of a different ward approached us and said he has a reference
for us. One of his best buddies. So we made a lunch appt for the same
day. So yesterday we contacted him and taught him. He is way prepared.
He is way smart and could really help the church here in Toto. He
doesn't go to any church and has really past for tough times. He is
looking to better his relationship with God and find joy in his life. We
are way stoked to teach him more. He already has the book of mormon and
has read a good chunk of it over the years. </div>

<div dir="ltr">
It was a good week. A new change always comes with new
energies and a lot of hope. This week we started off really well. On
Tuesday we found some really positive new investigators and families in a
different part where we had never gone. The area is a little farther
than we had gone before but thats fine. It's not that far. We found this
one women who has 2 children. Her husband went to the states and now
doesn't speak with her. She was way postive. She said she was gonna go
to church yesterday but never showed up... that is what usually happens.
But we have an appt with her tomorrow so we will see how that goes.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This
Wednesday we went to a district meeting. It was a good meeting. It was
the District leader's first meeting. One thing that really made me sad
was that a sister missionary ran out after the meeting crying... I went
after her with my comp to see what the problem was. She said she has
been feeling a ton of stress and just a ton of pressure. She is a new
missionary and is now training. She doesn't speak english perfectly yet.
I tried to comfort her a little bit. Making sure that she knew that the
Lord called her to train because he knew she could do it. We spoke for a
few minutes and then she left pumped up to get to work. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well we had the stake conference yesterday. It was interesting because quite a bit of it was in K'iche. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This
last week i have been studying the institute book, 'history of the
church'. I have learned a ton... I have read up to the Kirtland days. I
love reading the book and look forward to it all day to be able to get
back home to read a little more. </div>

I uploaded a bunch of photos. Love you guys</div>

<br />
This week i was listening to the Nashville Tribute Band a little bit and
listening to the songs i don't normally listen to. One of those songs
is "Bless My Son". It made me tear up a bit because i imagine that is
exactly what mom is doing. i also imagined that mom listens to that song
a ton. It is now my favorite song that i have! We also downloaded the
Youth Theme Album. It has a ton of great songs on it!!<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Well this week was way busy. Here is a rundown...:</div>
<div class="">
Tuesday- Council with President until 6pm</div>
<div class="">
Wednesday-
Zone Meeting and Meeting with the stake president and president smith.
Also we did diviisions with Elder Call and Elder Claros</div>
<div class="">
Thursday- Divisions with Elder Pace and Elder Whitney</div>
<div class="">
Friday- Divisions with Elder Fris and Elder Lopez</div>
<div class="">
Saturday- Finish divisions</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCBtOOsCV9qzzLWe_JNXdwRJpRRFpPUW1cv97Gml_gclhIRHjKhejUTWIiN_Uo4I5ac9ZOsI2MLTnvk6eyQJZsqTqkaew8zMu2UF7R3s-qXJKFtRdnK6M0ruBVVplimDL4eW8k0tEZp1ss/s1600/DSCN6397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCBtOOsCV9qzzLWe_JNXdwRJpRRFpPUW1cv97Gml_gclhIRHjKhejUTWIiN_Uo4I5ac9ZOsI2MLTnvk6eyQJZsqTqkaew8zMu2UF7R3s-qXJKFtRdnK6M0ruBVVplimDL4eW8k0tEZp1ss/s400/DSCN6397.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Council
was way sick this month. President spoke a bit about our personal
studies. He mentioned that we will be a lot more efficient as
missionaries and teachers if we are having spiritual experiences every
single morning. He also spoke about the misisonaries. One thing that
really touched me was that he said, "I am really worried about our
missionaries". He said that because a lot of missionaries get down on
themselves and lose hope because they don't see any success or progress.
He said that we need to save the missionaries in our zones and help
them be successful. They only have one shot to do the mission right so
it is sad if they spend it without hope and without success. It is
easier for a missionary who is baptizing to baptize. It is hard for a
missionary who isn't baptizing to baptize. It is all because of the
attitute that the missionary has. During the council we were called to
teach 10 minutes. It was great. time flew by. It felt like we had been
up there like 4 minutes when they were waving the 1 minute flag in the
air. So that was nice. I was way pumped up afterwards. It is always fun
and rewarding to do stuff like that because it allows you to reflect on
your whole mission and look at the progress that you've made.</div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Elder McLain is the new assistant.</div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
The
zone meeting went great. Zone meetings should only be 90 minutes
long... and we went 3 hours long... we had everything planned for 90 min
but who knows what happened... It was a great meeting. We spoke a lot
about making invitations to come to church. Because we have been having a
hard time in the zone to get the investigators to come to church. IT
was really awesome... Yesterday as a zone we had 25 investigators in
church... That is a ton. We are really happy with it. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
One
thing i love to do is challenge people to be baptized in a street
contact... I just did it like 15 minutes ago. It was awesome. It is a
ton of fun and it just pumps you up. haha Elder Nordblad was right there
next to me. Right before i challenged her i winked at Nordblad and he
just smiled and laughed a little. </div>
<div class="">

This week we did divisions with the assistants in their area in Xela. It
was fun. I was expecting something really special. I was thinking that
as assistants they were gonna have a totally different way of teaching
and everything but to my surprise it was the exact same thing. There
wasn't anything special or different from what we do. So that was
actually a cool thing in itself because it shows i have been working
well during my mission. The highlight of course was when we bought
dominos pizza to finish the night off.<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
I
got a call this week that Carlos (the convert from Brasilia with a
cane) died. He passed away. Apparently he was really sick. So that is
sad. But the good news is that he heard and accepted The Good News
before he passed away. It has been weird because a ton of people have
died this week... A member in Colotenango, a primary girl here in Toto, a
convert of one of my buddies, and also two more in the surrounding
wards here in Toto... Everyone is dying. Who knows what is going on..</div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
This
is gonna be another super busy week. The first week of the month for us
is always way packed. Tomorrow we have Council with President Smith and
all the leaders... We were notified that we have to teach a little bit
about making inspired questions during lessons. Then on Wednesday we
will have a zone meeting and then in the night we will have our monthly
meeting with President Smith and the Stake President. To top all that
off, on Wednesday we are gonna do divisions here in Toto with Elder call
and his comp. Thursday with another set of elders. Then on friday we
are gonna go to Nahuala to do divisions. And on Saturday we will be
doing divisions with Elder Nordlbad.... Then Sunday is just a normal
Sunday. haha this will likely be the most packed week of my mission. I
enjoy the added responsibilities but i always loved how chill life was
before!! Just like Zac Brown would say it... Ain't no worrys. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Toto
has proven to be the hardest area i have ever had... It is definitely a
trial of faith. I feel like i am working in the States or in England.
Nobody wants anything and they aren't willing to even listen. I know
there are people here waiting for us but it is super hard to find them.
We are always thinking of different things to do. I was thinking of
maybe renting out Central Park to put up a big screen and a projector
and during market day show Mormon Messages videos and the zone could be
contacting there with all the members too. That would be super cool and
im sure the members would love it. </div>

<div dir="ltr">
Well it was a good week!! We started the week with
divisions with Nordblad. It was a lot of fun. We worked way hard and we
found some great investigators and families. We finished the divisions
off Wednesday morning hitting up the gym... way sick. I was way sore
afterwards though... haha but it felt way nice to get back to the gym. I
hope to be able to go more often. We are thinking of going in the
mornings 3 days a week.<div>

<div>
This week i did a baptismal
interview for elder Call. It was a great interview. The spirit was way
strong and the man was really humble. It was a great baptism because
this branch hadn't had a baptism of a man for 3 years.... So this was
much needed. The rest of his family should be getting baptized pretty
soon. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today we got a call from President Smith
asking us to go to the hospital to search for a member who recently had
a surgery. Apparently she lives in one of the villages in Momos and is
part of one of the branches of the mission. She had surgery but had no
family to help her get back home to momos. They didn't have any money to
buy medicine either. So President sent us to figure everything out for
them... It was cool. the hospitals here are really bad though. haha i
felt like i was in an insane A<br />
sylum... It is literally a building with
nothing on the walls, no color, no technology... nothing. glad i won't
ever have to go there to be treated.</div>

Well it was an interesting week that is for sure... haha. This week we
receive a call from Elder Nordblad (right now he is a district leader
here) and he told us that the sister missionaries had locked themselves
in a room in their house and cannot get out.... l<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4GPwszRV9BmFpJ1PvlD4lObnlUNJwpdAc5MBrJSa1BtDxUiTnfBtrSmO_nBR-Rdjhe6CetlJncVhzZnEnMmKAbPu1KXF1JTiuIWNpUoNynqqAX6vVaAN_uJMhSGuD3N6Ddw7h1unLCJ6A/s1600/DSCN6333.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4GPwszRV9BmFpJ1PvlD4lObnlUNJwpdAc5MBrJSa1BtDxUiTnfBtrSmO_nBR-Rdjhe6CetlJncVhzZnEnMmKAbPu1KXF1JTiuIWNpUoNynqqAX6vVaAN_uJMhSGuD3N6Ddw7h1unLCJ6A/s400/DSCN6333.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7j_xMmuuZkMSGIrQtPL-HU4ho_XJCO3lBq0k2B6sWgT4BEJMuW7Y1ed2icyeHjtOTqWKuQG6YEfontBy5x7UK7UrEDAG0Gg4f7RoNPbLBxVAVsfA7ZPHjRc8I5k4T1lYSZdc41u2vtv8v/s1600/DSCN6338.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7j_xMmuuZkMSGIrQtPL-HU4ho_XJCO3lBq0k2B6sWgT4BEJMuW7Y1ed2icyeHjtOTqWKuQG6YEfontBy5x7UK7UrEDAG0Gg4f7RoNPbLBxVAVsfA7ZPHjRc8I5k4T1lYSZdc41u2vtv8v/s400/DSCN6338.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
et us just say we had a
good laugh about that. The sisters had left the keys in a different
room when they went to study and couldn't get out of the room. they were
trapped. So we went with Nordblad to go rescue them. Hence the photos
of Elder Nordblad scaling a 12ft wall. it was way funny. But that isn't
the funniest part... Last night we received another call from
Nordblad... Saying that the same sister missionaries locked their keys
in the house and couldn't get in... It was 9pm. So what ended up
happening is that Nordblad and his comp came over for a little sleepover
while the sister missionaries slept at their house.. haha oh the joy of
having sister missionaries in the zone..<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitZLGJroMAjjNp-dnw-FAf47wEs55-rngEAq_bY8dQLsqkZmmq9sX40h1XfK0qGr8BBAt8x8SXe8Rl8KswCwWdAFWwcbm0LRpgN9Hjn2KioBCrCKnrcE5keoMwEltpjKkjaP6wsbMDtXdS/s1600/DSCN6301.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitZLGJroMAjjNp-dnw-FAf47wEs55-rngEAq_bY8dQLsqkZmmq9sX40h1XfK0qGr8BBAt8x8SXe8Rl8KswCwWdAFWwcbm0LRpgN9Hjn2KioBCrCKnrcE5keoMwEltpjKkjaP6wsbMDtXdS/s400/DSCN6301.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="">
This
week it was more of the same as last week. This is a way touch area. It
seems like everyone we talk to wants to fight with us... On Sunday we
were contacting and having a good conversation with a guy about The Book
of Mormon.. He was saying that we were saints for working so hard each
day to help other people... Then he said that "If you were christians
than you would inherit a great place with Christ"... haha In my mind i
thought, "okay,... you have no idea what you are talking about bro". He
then said that after this life we will understand the truth... referring
to that one day we will understand that his church is the true church. </div>
<div class="">
</div>
<div class="">
Stuff
like that happens literally everyday. It sometimes is a little funny
but mostly not. I now feel bad for the missionaries in the states. After
so much rejection i understand how they are feeling. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
But
a cool contact we had this week was with a guy named Bonifacio. We
started talking to him and he said, "I am prepared. I have been
prepared". He had a ton of energy. Something i like to do when i am
contacting is mimic the energy and the tone of the other person. This
guy was all over the place so it was a fun contact... haha one thing led
to another and i challenged him to be baptized and he accepted... We
went to go find him on Friday and it seems like he doesn't want anything
haha. A lot of times we find people who seem way positive but then the
next visit they don't want anything... haha life.</div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
I
do appreciate this part of my mission because i have learned a ton. In
my other areas i don't think that i have really had to experience
rejection like here. It seems to be a Toto thing because a lot of people
have the same experiences here. At the end of the day i am happy
because we are working way hard.</div>
<div class="">

<div class="">
Love you guys and hope all is well!! Miss you</div>

It was a good week. Hard week in our area but i learned a lot this week.<br />
<div class="">
Starting
the week off on Tuesday we had "Council" with president. All the zone
leaders and the sister leaders get together in council to talk about the
mission as well as hear the messages of President Smith and the
assistants. President spoke about repentence and baptism. What is
happening here in central america is that the converts aren't truely
converting. They get baptized then go less active almost immediately.
Last year in Central America 21000 people got baptized. and the overall
assistance in sacrament meeting went down 4000... So a ton of people are
going inactive. That shows that people don't truely understand
repentence and don't apply it. In every meeting we have been having they
have been talking about repentence. A few weeks ago when there was the
missionary conference with all missionaries in the world they spoke
about it too. We have been focusing much more on repentence with the
investigators and also less active and active memebers so that they can
apply the principles. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
On
Wednesday we had what is called "CCM". I have no idea what it stands
for. But it is with President Smith and the stake president. We spoke
about the dats and also about the success and problems that the
missionaries are having. We also made some recommendations as to which
areas to open and close. We will see what happens. But we have this
meeting at the beginning of every month. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZSf-svngxPtrWFPQF0xrDYPJ96SAgaO1nZq3VGJnOqYA2qN9Goe8vKwbl39HUZokEMFLi8HNKUiZBkfruvyzIZ0oQrn-2M8_dbhCYn6jMpYLX62bnrHbxJElmO_lq4EVWWilLtw8QGs7H/s1600/cb862260590e1a366c1970308bd9a4c5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZSf-svngxPtrWFPQF0xrDYPJ96SAgaO1nZq3VGJnOqYA2qN9Goe8vKwbl39HUZokEMFLi8HNKUiZBkfruvyzIZ0oQrn-2M8_dbhCYn6jMpYLX62bnrHbxJElmO_lq4EVWWilLtw8QGs7H/s400/cb862260590e1a366c1970308bd9a4c5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="">
On
Thursday we went to the temple. It is always nice to go to the temple
and relax and just have a nice spiritual experience. Before entering we
paid a sister to make the whole zone breakfast. It was way good. She
made hash browns, sausage, pancakes, and hamburgers. Delicious start to
the day. Afterwards we entered the temple and pounded out a session.
Then we went to the zone meeting. The meeting went well. It was weird
thinking but that will likely be the last time i go to the temple here
in Xela besides my last day in the field. Time is flying by. Right now
in the zone, there are a ton of missionaries who have a ton of time. I
think there are like 6 who have 18 months or more. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Well
this week we didn't have much success in our area. For a few days we
thought all our investigators fell... They didn't want anything. They
were ignoring us and all that jazz. But we were able to get with them.
We still don't know what is happening... Satan has had it out for us
this week... Also for the whole zone. The whole zone struggled this
week. All the street contacts and doors we knocked wanted to fight with
us... It was the weirdest thing ever... They were all so skeptical about
prayer and about receiving an answer from God.... It really confounded
me because in all my mission i had never heard someone doubt prayer
until now. And literally everyone was saying it... They were saying that
all we need is the Bible.... Weirdos. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Well it is super cold... I need a good jacket. It is like 40 degrees here everyday starting at like 4:30pm.. </div>
<div class="">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(due to andrew not uploading photos this is what you get) </div>
Well we had a busy week. This week we moved. We changed houses so we are
finally in the new place and out of the old. The new house is way sick.
i'll send photos next week because this week they are gonna be
painting. It is like a condo. It will be a great house for us. It also
costs half of what we were paying so the mission is way happy too.
Apparently President Smith last year cut down on house rent costs by 18%
in the whole mission.<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Well
i love Toto. The area is way sick. The members are awesome. Last
Tuesday night there was a noche de hermanamiento. Way sick. They set up a
TV and had a nice spiritual thought. Then we celebrated the birthday of
a member. Just way sick. I love the members her. They are so nice and
are really tight nit. Also the city itself is just sick. It has
everything you would need. If i were ever to come move to Guatemala i
would come live here in Toto. Last week we found these donuts that are
literally amazing. They are at the level of Krispy Kremes... Scary good.
Also there are bakerys at every corner... So i have been eating a ton
of bread. Love it!</div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Well
this week we had to do a companionship intervention with some elders in
a different area... They weren't getting along well so they called us
for help. We just had them talk out their problems... It turned out
great. Today we went to Walmart as a zone and they appeared to be
getting along really well. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
This
week will be very busy. Not too much time in the area. Tomorrow we go
to Xela again for Consejo all day. We will get back at like 5ish. Then
on Wednesday we have a meeting with the Stake President and President
Smith. Then on Thursday the Temple and then the zone meeting
afterwards... Likely to get back around 5om again. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Last
night we had an activity in the ward. We organized it. We did 'The Tree
of Life". We set up the whole scene and acted out the tree of life and
everybody went to pick off an apple off the tree. afterwards we had a
meeting with converts sharing their conversion stories and stuff like
that. way spiritual. i was at the tree when everyone was picking it. I
was able to reflect and put myself in Lehi's shoes.<br />

I am in the Toto zone. My area is also
called Toto. The name of the city is Totonicapan. My whole mission i
have always had 2 zones where i never wanted to go... Toto, and La
Esperanza. But now that i am here in
Toto, it is literally the best. It is a ton like Momos. I am in the
city but the zone has quite a few villages too. The city is really
pretty. It is really clean and well designed... It doesn't look like
something that belongs in Guatemala... But let me say...
I am in the coldest area in the whole mission... It is literally
freezing. The hottest it gets during the day is about 50 degrees. Then
once the sun goes down, the wind picks up, and the temperature drops to
about 35 degrees.... It is freezing... And a few
months ago i gave my jacket to a new missionary who didn't have
anything so i only have sweaters.... Lets just say ive been a bit cold!!
The weather reminds me of Seattle in the winter... The only difference
is that i don't have a hot tub, a house with a heater,
nor a car with seat warmers... I admit that i took those things for
granted before the mission!! But i am looking to buy a jacket... I will
likely need to take money out to buy the jacket and a beanie..</div>

Well tomorrow are changes... And last night i got a call from President.
He called me to be a Zone Leader. So i have changes. I don´t have an
idea where i am going but we will see tomorrow. It seems like half the
zone leaders have changes so it could literally be anywhere... I know it
won´t be here in Huehue. So either Xela, Toto, Quiche, or Momos... I am
hoping for Quiche or Momos... That would be way cool. I am excited to
be a ZL but also a little nervous/intimidated. I know it will be great
and i will learn a lot. So overall l am happy. But that means i won't
finish the training of Elder Fuentes... But thats fine.<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
This
week we had a good week. We have a family here progressing well. It is a
husband and wife and their two children. They came to church yesterday.
I know they will get baptized. They just have to get married first. But
no problem. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
On
Saturday, all my converts here in Brasilia went to the temple to do
baptisms... Which was really rewarding to hear about their experiences
and how they felt. It was cool because Eber and Roxana were telling me
how they were really looking forward to getting sealed in the temple
within a year of their baptism. That will be awesome once they get
sealed. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
The
district here is doing great. Everyone is working hard and having
success right now. We will see where i am headed next... I have a
feeling Momos. It won't be in a village but in the town... I think so
because i have already been in villages so i have some good advice and
experiences to share with other people. But we will see. </div>

I have faith that the Hawks will be in the Super Bowl!! Have Faith and all things are possible!It
was a good week. A little slower because about half our investigators
were gone doing other things. I did divisions with an area that is
really struggling... It was tough out there... I feel like if i was in
that area i would lose hope fast. It was weird because the people just
don't like the missionaries. The ignore them and don't really ever say
hi. I think they are going to close that area next week because it
hasn't had a baptism for like 8 months... But we will see.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The
district is doing well. We now have 14 baptismal dates. 6 are ours.
This week my comp and i hope to put some 4 baptismal dates more. This
next week will be exciting because President Smith told all the leaders
to expect huge changes in the mission this change... He is going to
change a ton of areas and change where the leaders are... We are all
anxious for it to be Sunday night already so we can get the news. </div>

I
like the area here but i wouldn't mind having changes to go to some
aldea in a mountain... There just isn't anything like Colotenango.... I
want to go back to an area like that... I wouldn't mind opening Ical...
or some area in Momostenango. I have a desire to teach the Lama<br />

nites...
And they aren't here in Huehue nor Xela... They are in the mountains.
After reading this book called Pioneer of Guatemala, I only want to be
with them. As we read in the title page of the Book of Mormon... it was
written FOR the Lamonites. So i would like to fulfill the prophecy's in
the Book and preach the gospel to the Lamanites. </div>

<div dir="ltr">
Well Christmas is over... But the Holidays haven't ended
yet... We are halfway there. This week is likely going to be a lot like
the last week (Not a whole lot of people home). With New Years people go
to the Coast and to the beach. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Even though this
last week was tough to find people in their houses, we found some really
great families. I am actually super excited about it. Some other Elders
from a nearby area gave us a reference for a girl who they had been
teaching and who had already gone to church like 3 times. She has a
baptismal date for like the 23rd of January. So we were going to her
house to talk to her. We touched the door and her sister in law answered
and said excitedly, "Elders!! Ive been waiting for you!" We weren't
sure what she was talking about but we just played along. We started
teaching her and her husband. they had a ton of questions and were
really excited to learn. We ended up basically teaching all the lessons
because of all the questions that they had. We challenged them to be
baptized and they accepted. Super pilas. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As
New Years is approaching, i am making a lot of goals. In the Ensign of
March 2015 there is an article for the Young Adults about goals. I am
currently in the process of making a 1yr, 3yr, and 5yr goal/plan. The
subtopics are: Physical, social, financial, spiritual, mental/academic,
and things to do. It is a lot of fun. The General Authorities are always
saying that return missionaries often have no plans or goals for the
future. So i am going to take their counsel and make goals and plans!! </div>

Thanks for the letter dad! Some great thoughts. I love the quote by
Michael Jordan. During high school i rarely felt pressure or stress so
it is good to start feeling it now to help me in college and in life
when it comes.
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What i have seen is the best way, like you said, to get rid of
pressure is to take it head on. By working harder and harder. My comp
and i have been working hard. There is a scripture in 1 corinthions i
believe that says more or less that God won't give
us more than we can take. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Thanks for everything you do. In Kian's email he wrote something i really liked: </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="color: #444444; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21.3px;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0); line-height: 21.3px;">My Mission President, President Slaughter, wrote us this letter today... </span></div>
<div style="color: #444444; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21.3px;">
<div style="line-height: 21.3px;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0); line-height: 21.3px;"><br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 21.3px;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0); line-height: 21.3px;">When
our children were much younger, they loved seeing presents under the
Christmas tree. The idea of receiving a new toy filled them with great
anticipation.
Sister Slaughter would worry about getting them something that they did
not already have. I did not have the same worry. I noticed that in
their closets, the children had stowed away most of the toys that they
had received in previous years. I announced to
my wife that I was thinking about simply re-wraping their old toys and
re-gifting them, thus saving a lot of money and time.<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br />
</span></div>
<div style="line-height: 21.3px;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0); line-height: 21.3px;">Sister
Slaughter thought that my plan was mean. I thought it was genius! While
my wife went shopping one night, I snuck into the closets of the
children and
found tons of toys that had hardly been used–and they were all free! I
chose my favorites and carefully wrapped each one. I strategically
placed them under the tree. Later that evening, when the family noticed
all the new presents stacked under the tree, the
children went wild with excitement. I loved seeing them so happy. My
wife, however, knew exactly what I had been up to and gave me that look
of “you are a deceiver of men.” I just smiled.<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
Christmas morning arrived. The children were anxious to open their
presents, especially all the meticulously wrapped ones from daddy. As
they opened each present and realized what it was, they were very
excited. “Wow! Look Mom! Look! Look what daddy got me!
I love it! I used to have one of these! Thank you daddy! You are the
best!”<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
It worked! My children were happy. They did not receive anything new from me; only a reminder of what they had all along.<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
God has blessed us so much in our lives. He has given us many gifts.
Some of these gifts we have put away in the closet; we have buried our
talents or simply forgotten about them. However, throughout our lives, a
wise and loving Father in Heaven re-wraps our
gifts in a new light and under new circumstances. When He does, we
sometimes think that He is giving us something new; often, however, He
is simply trying to help us see the gifts that were already ours.<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
Take for example, your parents. They are a gift from God. When you were
young, you may not have realized it. Your level of gratitude may have
been low. However, now that you are on a mission, it is not uncommon
that the Lord re-wraps your gift. You begin to
see your parents in a new light. You begin to feel deeper love and
deeper appreciation. They are not new parents; they have been there all
along; God has simply allowed you to see them in a new light and under
new circumstances. God has re-gifted them to you.<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
In like manner, there are many other gifts that God often re-gifts us.
Nothing new. He simply helps us see what was always there–the Atonement,
the Church, the gospel, the sacrament, the priesthood, the scriptures,
time, talents, testimony, health, and the
list goes on.<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
“For what doth it profit a man if a gift is bestowed upon him, and he
receive not the gift?” (D&C 88:33). What does it profit us if we are
given the opportunity to be a full-time missionary and we do not do
anything about it? What does it profit us if we
are born in the covenant and grow up of goodly parents and we do not do
anything about it? What does it profit us if we are given a commandment
or an ordinance or a suggestion and we do not do anything about it?<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
<br style="line-height: 21.3px;" />
May we take a look in the closets of our own souls and recognize the
gifts that are already ours. May we express gratitude for each of those
gifts and then act upon them.</span></div>

We had a good week. Carlos got baptized. He asked me to baptize
him. It was way cool. It was tough because he is half paralyzed... I had
to dunk him 3 times because there wasn't that much water in the font
and he was panicing a little bit... It literally felt like i was
wrestling with the guy. I was physically exhausted after because it was
crazy.... hahah it was like we were in a wave pool because he was moving
everywhere. Definitely won't ever forget that experience. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Church
was sick yesterday. There was an Area Leadership Training at our
building. So all the Stake Presidencies from the mission, a seventy,
temple president, exmission presidents were all there... The speakers
for sacrament meeting were stake presidents from other stakes in Xela
and Momos... I think there were like 9 stakes represented there... Talk
about power. </div>

This month of December the
district will have 6 baptisms. We have 4 right now and 2 more this
Saturday. It is a good number. But January will be a tough month by what
i see. We are focusing on challenging everyone we talk to. Right now we
are all finding a ton of new investigators because of the church
christmas initiative. So that is great. </div>

Tomorrow
we will have a Mission Christmas Activity. It is going to be in the
chapel here in Brasilia. We don't know anything about it. It is a
surprise. Next week we are gonna do a secret Santa gift exchange. So
that will be fun. Christmas will be pretty low key. But nice. It is
getting cold here at night. But it doesn't feel like Christmas. </div>

<br />
It has been a good week. Changes were moved from Tuesday to Wednesday
because there were rallies in the streets in all of Guatemala. The
Hospitals don't have comedienne... So everyone is a little angry...My new
companion is from Guatemala City. His name is Elder Fuentes. He is a a
great missionary. He is 20 years old. He actually had already served
about 2 months in a Mexico mission a year ago but got way sick so he got
sent home for that. So now he is serving here in this mission. So he
technically has 2 months in the mission but we are still starting from
scratch because it was so long ago. We get along great. He is a humble
kid and looking forward to serving the Lord.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
I got
my package! Thanks!! Wednesday we get to go to the Temple. We got a call
last night from President. It turns out one of my comp's good buddies
was hit by a car on Saturday and passed away. So that was really sad. So
on Wednesday we get to go to the temple. It will be awesome for him and
it will be fun for me!! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The zone had
interviews with president Smith on Saturday. They were great. Always a
great time talking with him. The part that is nice is that we start
talking and we can talk about whatever we want. He doesn't ask us any
questions besides, "How are you doing". Then we talk for the rest of the
time about our problems and struggles. It was cool because when we had
the conference with Elder Ochoa, he told us that we have been called to
this mission because we have something to learn from President Smith.
That while we are here, we need to try to become like him. He even
talked about how we should try to live our lives like he has lived his
and be what he was. He spoke alot about how President was a successful
investment banker... So who knows, maybe i gotta check that out...</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
This week we have
been contacting a lot more. Talking with a lot more people in the
streets and also touching a lot more doors. We have been guided by the
spirit many times. Everyday we are
walking and we just feel like we need to turn around and touch a door
that we had just touched. Although many times they don't want anything,
maybe in the future they will be ready. This week we have been working
way hard. It is fun training. But it is tiring.
You have to explain every little thing and you can't really just sit
back for a bit and let your comp take over with whatever you were
doing. <div>
</div>
<div>
<div class="ecxMsoNormal">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div class="ecxMsoNormal">
This week i have felt a lot of stress
for a lot of reasons. Including the district and some of the areas in
it. Training. My own area. And stuff like that. But president told me
that there is no reason to stress
nor worry. The prophet told mission presidents not to measure their
success as presidents for 20 years. Until the sons of the missionaries
go on missions... That was a cool thought. </div>

I am super happy for you motha!! You will do great!! Relief Society President!! Whom the Lord calls, he <a class="" href="https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1993/04/whom-the-lord-calls-the-lord-qualifies?lang=eng" target="_blank">Qualifies</a>!! You will do great. Just rely on the Lord and you will be amazing!! Proud of you mom!!<br />
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
So
tomorrow are changes. My comp is out. I am training. There are 5 new
elders coming to the mission and 4 of them are latinos. I would love to
train the american but it isn't likely!! But that is fine! I am a little
nervous to train but also excited because i'm gonna be able to do
whatever i want and try a whole lot of new things!! </div>
<div class="">
</div>
<div class="">
Carlos didn't get
baptized this last weekend because after passing his baptismal
interview, he drank a cup of coffee.... haha he is just the funniest
guy. He said his sister didn't give him anything else so he had to drink
it... like i said, he doesn't have full processing abilities. So we had
to explain that sometimes if they give him coffee, he cannot touch it
at all and it may mean that he won't drink anything... on Sunday morning
he told me they gave him coffee again... but he didn't touch it. So he
will get baptized this Saturday. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
This
last week we had zone conferences. Elder Ochoa came. He is amazing. He
is from Mexico but speaks English 100%. I believe he will be an
apostle... Way funny but also way spiritual... He called the whole
mission to repentance... Performed miracles....read minds.... and made
us laugh.... Honestly amazing... In one of the conferences, while
president smith was talking, Ochoa just walked out of the chapel...
People that he was going to the bathroom... He didn't come back for 50
minutes... everything was thinking "what the heck??". He gets the
microphone and explained what happened. He said: He felt that someone
needed him. So he left the chapel. kneeled down to pray and felt he
needed a companion. So he asks some random church maintenance guy who was
in the chapel to be his comp. They walk out of the church, and touch a
door... The guy didn't want anything... but said his neighbor needed
help. So they touch the door. Nobody comes to the door. His comp says,
"lets go. nobody is here". Ochoa just waits without saying anything. 10
minutes later, a women opens the door. She looked distressed and sick.
turns out she needed back surgery. She could barely walk... she was
supposed to be in bed the rest of her life. Ochoa says he was sent from
the lord. He asks her if he could give her a blessing. She says no. He
explains the priesthood and how he has authority. She then said yes
please. He gives her a blessing. SHE WAS HEALED. Now she wants to listen
to the missionaries and be baptized.... hahahah how crazy. Everybody
was just crapping themselves when he was saying this. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Other
stuff happened like this. Ochoa was perceiving missionaries thoughts
and told missionaries the questions they wanted to ask... One time he
paused for a minute. wrote on his ipad. gave his ipad to the assistant.
asked a sister what her question of the soul was. And then he told the
assistant to read the ipad. And it was the same exact question.... He
knew That specific sister had that question. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
In
the middle of the conference, he was talking about faith and randomly
points to a sister from Utah. And says, ÿou are a chosen women of
God"... He said it in english and then just continued in spanish talking
about faith... This sister cried the rest of the conference... hahaha
such a crazy conference. </div>
<div class="">
<br class="" /></div>
<div class="">
Love you guys!! </div>
